Hello! I'm Priya, a UI/UX designer who believes in creating designs that truly see eye-to-eye with users. I am currently a fourth year Cognitive Science major at UC San Diego, with a specialization in Design and Interaction. I started college as a psychology and worked in behavioral research labs. I loved learning about human behavior, but I’ve also always been creative, creating websites and digital designs in my spare time. Combining these two aspects of my life, the transition to studying UX design was not just a change in major, but a natural evolution of my passions. Explore my case studies below and feel free to connect through the links above!

Reimagining Aha!’s feature prioritization workflow

Scope: Class project (10 weeks, group of 4)

We contacted professional stakeholders to assess user needs, and ended up working with two product managers that use Aha! product management software. They struggled with Aha!'s cluttered interface, reporting significant time waste during the critical feature ideation and prioritization phases. Through user research and iterative design, we identified key pain points and redesigned the interface to reduce cognitive load. The redesigned interface cuts through the clutter with an automated feature prioritization system and collaborative feedback. The result? Product managers can now navigate from feature ideation to roadmap decisions with clarity and confidence, transforming a once arduous process into a streamlined experience.

Allaboard: Family trip planning gone collaborative

Scope: Extracurricular project (10 weeks, group of 8)

We worked with a professional design mentor who gave us a prompt: Create a digital experience (website, app, or both) to make it easy to plan a family vacation. From there, we created a collaborative trip planning website, from ideation to implementation. We had both designers and developers, and worked together to create a working prototype and live website. We interviewed parents to understand their struggles when planning trips, and created a flexible, collaborative platform that unifies trip planning, recommendations, and collaboration. [This case study links to a Notion site; this was one of our final deliverables and it hasn't yet been migrated to this site.]

Improving Wildfire Emergency Alerts: Advanced Emergency Alert (AEA)

Scope: Design-a-thon challenge (2 weeks, group of 4)

Wildfires are a widespread and complex issue that pose unique and constantly evolving risks. For the Mindshifts on Megafires design challenge, my team interviewed UCSD students and professional stakeholders that work to map wildfires in order to understand the risks wildfires pose to the public and what information the public needs to adequately protect themselves. We redesigned existing emergency alerts to create Advanced Emergency Alert (AEA). AEA builds upon the existing emergency alert infrastructure that notifies people’s phones when there is a disaster, such as a wildfire, with a short form video format. AEA grabs the attention of young adults so that even the most apathetic will feel the gravity of the situation and feel empowered to take action (by evacuating or preparing to). AEA functions the same way as existing emergency systems but with a key difference: an audio notification with brief, spoken instructions pops up automatically if a person located in an evacuation or at-risk area while providing informative videos.

Capsule: A data-driven wardrobe app

Scope: Extracurricular project (12 weeks, group of 4)

A data-driven closet organizer app that helps build sustainable habits and inspire users with visual styling ideas. College students and young adults struggle with outfit decision-making due to limited time, lack of inspiration, and indecision. This leads to frustration, over-reliance on repetitive outfits, and a disconnect between personal style and wardrobe potential. Capsule addresses these points with an inspo feed, social integration, virtual wardrobe, wardrobe statistics, and styling assistant.
